The Dogs of S&S Tracking and Outdoor Service

The dogs at S&S Tracking and Outdoor Service are more than hunting partners, they are part of the family. Each one of them teaches us something different about life. Whether it's tracking wounded game, pointing, retrieving, or flushing quail our dogs remind us that character is built one choice at a time.

"Happiness is a good dog—and a good dog never stops learning."

TRACKING DOGS

Scout - Excellence

“Don't be intimidated by the size of the challenge."

Red Lacy

11 years old

Those who have seen him work understand that whether it’s baying a Red Stag at night or recovering a wounded trophy deer, he is committed fully to his work. The happiest dogs—and people—are the ones who wake up excited about their purpose.

Rowdy — Preparation

“Learn from those who came before you.”

Lacy-GSP Cross

3 years old

Rowdy is the next generation—the one quietly putting in the work, learning from experience, and preparing for the day when others will depend on her. She understands that you don’t have to be the best today to become great tomorrow. One day Rowdy will step into Scout's role. Preparation happens long before the opportunity arrives. Prepare today for the responsibilities you'll have tomorrow. Every expert was once a beginner following someone else's tracks.

FLUSHING DOGS

The Honey Badger — Determination

"Toughness and tenderness can live in the same heart."

English Cocker Spaniel

8 years old

Badger truly lives up to his name.  He approaches everything with excitement. Life is more fun when you greet it with curiosity and energy. Badger's lessons come from joyful determination. He is fearless in the field and completely soft-hearted at home. It's a reminder that courage and comfort, grit and gentleness, can exist together.  You don't have to choose between being brave and being lovable.

Gale — Perseverance

English Cocker Spaniel

4 years old

Gale's devotion shows that loyalty can be one of our greatest strengths.  Being tired is not the same thing as being finished. Love gives determination a purpose. A big heart creates big accomplishments.  Effort fueled by love and commitment can carry us farther than we think.

Windy — Legacy

"A good life isn't measured only by what you accomplish, but by what you leave behind."

English Cocker Spaniel

4 years old

The future is built one generation at a time. She isn't just a talented hunter—she's helped shape the future through the puppies she's raised. Leave a legacy that will outlast you. What you pass on is just as important as what you achieve. Success multiplies when it's shared.

The Next Generation

Windy and Badger have raised two amazing litters of puppies.

POINTING DOGS

Doc — Talent

“Don’t let the old man in!”

English Pointer

15 years old

Purchased as a 5- or 6-year-old in 2017, Doc is still a vital asset to our hunting program. Although he is not required to travel like in years past, his presence is still requested by one of our groups. His role has changed over the past few years, but his determination of excellence has not. Doc’s primary job now is training our English Cocker flushing dog puppies. He is still rock solid on point and allows those puppies to jump all over him until they smell the bird and move in for the flush. Doc’s Life Lesson: Show up and do your job well. Stay playful, no matter how old you get

Stormy — Focus

“Give your full attention to what matters most.”

English Pointer

8 years old

When Stormy is on point, everything else disappears. He loves to run, loves to hunt, and once he's locked onto birds, almost nothing can distract him. Stormy doesn't have to be pushed to hunt or run—he loves doing it. The things we're passionate about often bring out our best effort and endurance.

Dottie — Heart

“Give your whole heart to what you do.”

German Shorthaired Pointer

8 years old

Dottie doesn't do anything halfway.  She effortlessly combines heart, athleticism, and instinct; a dog so committed to the hunt that she can't ignore the next opportunity, even when she's already succeeding. No matter the situation, she shows up with intensity, enthusiasm and commitment.

Pistol Pete — Loyalty

German Shorthaired Pointer

5 years old

No matter where the hunt takes him, Pete always wants to be near those he trusts. Life is better when we nurture the relationships that keep us grounded. He's a talented hunter when it's time to work, but when the hunt is over, he'd rather be right beside his people. That's a wonderful combination of competence and loyalty. Be good at your job, but make time for the people who matter.

Big — Purpose

“Put your energy to good use.”

German Shorthaired Pointer

2 years old

Big may be one of the newest members of the team, but he already has a very clear philosophy:  "If you don't give me a job, I'll invent one." Big is happiest when he has something productive to do. Energy is a gift, but it's up to us to direct it toward worthwhile goals. Growth often comes from curiosity and action.

Black Jack — Patience

“Potential often takes time to show itself.”

German Shorthaired Pointer

2 years old

What stands out isn't what he has already accomplished—it's that he's full of promise, optimism, and puppy enthusiasm despite being old enough that some dogs start taking themselves too seriously. You don't have to have everything figured out yet.  Jack is still learning, still training, and still becoming the dog he's meant to be. Progress is more important than perfection. Sometimes your greatest value hasn't been revealed yet.

Elation (Ellie) — Potential

German Shorthaired Pointer

1 year old

Ellie isn't the finished bird dog yet. She's the puppy with big dreams, natural talent, and endless possibilities ahead of her. Every accomplishment starts with being willing to learn, for every expert starts as a beginner. Ellie was named after happiness, and puppies have a way of reminding us that joy isn't something we earn later—it's something we can find right now. Happiness grows when you greet each day with enthusiasm. Find joy in the journey.

"Happiness is a good dog—and a good dog never stops learning."
